Why, in your 60’s, would you build a Class B motorhome yourself?

Judy and I started with 3 little ones and a tent in the 80’s. We graduated to a 32′ class A in the 90’s and moved on to a 97 Roadtrek RS Adventurous in the 00. We had great fun with that rig for 7 years. We reached an age (let’s just say 65 plus) that crawling out the end of the bed was no longer acceptable. Prior to parting with the RoadTrek, we got the vintage trailer bug. We still own two. More about that in another post. We are hooked on traveling “small.” More options to see places the larger RV’s cannot.

We looked for solutions to the inside height of Class B rigs, but we couldn’t find one that was designing for 6′ 6″. Thus, if you want to stand up straight and a long enough bed, you’re going to have to build it yourself.

So begins the story of SeeMore.

After more than a year of research, we selected a Ford Transit 350, High Roof Ext. Cargo Van. We took delivery in January of 2018 and shortly thereafter took off for a couple weeks with the 66 Avion 28 foot Travelcade in tow. We returned ready to get underway with the build. Life and assumptions about parts availability and choices got in the way. So here it is August of 2018 and we feel as if were finally under way.

We hope you enjoy reading about our build. We also hope to provide as much credit as we can to the many folks in the community that have shared their builds allowing us to learn from their experiences and pitfalls.
